One of his aides believes that a video of Sean “Diddy” Combs hitting his then-girlfriend, Cassie, “doesn’t tell the whole story of what happened.” Speaking to the Post.
“He’s furious, especially about the video. He claims the video doesn’t tell the whole story of what happened. He’s not making excuses and saying the video was cherry-picked,” the source said.
“His position is that there was some intent behind the video when it was released,” the source continued.
“But at the end of the day, his biggest concern is the attack on his home and he knows that Kathy’s video is just a distraction.”
The shocking video, released by CNN on May 19, shows the Bad Boy Records founder, 54, attacking Kassie (real name Cassandra Ventura) in March 2016.
In the footage, Combs, wearing a towel around his waist, chases the “Me and You” singer, 37, down a hallway at the now-closed Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles.
As Cathy was getting into the elevator to leave, her then-boyfriend grabbed her by the back of the neck and threw her to the floor.
As the singer lay motionless on the floor, Combs kicked her, grabbed her by her sweatshirt and dragged her down the hallway.
He also threw a glass vase at Cathy, who had been cornered in the hallway.
After the video was released, the Sean John founder took to Instagram to apologize for his actions.
“My behavior in that video is unacceptable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I am disgusted,” he said in an Instagram video posted Sunday.
Kathy also spoke about the harrowing video, thanking everyone for the “love and support” she has received as she continues to work towards recovery.
“I’m better now because of hard work, but I have a long way to go before I move on from the past,” said the singer, who is now married to Alex Fine.
The video’s release comes weeks after the Department of Homeland Security searched Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami homes in connection with an ongoing sex trafficking investigation.
Cathy accused her ex-husband of rape and abuse in November 2023. Combs denied the charges, but settled the matter the following day.
He has since been sued in six additional cases alleging sexual misconduct and other misconduct.
More recently, the father of seven was accused of drugging and raping a former student at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology in the ’90s.
Combs has denied some of the allegations in the lawsuit.
