Maybe U.S. Amb. Stood for Raisi Because He Was ‘Surprised’

During Friday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “America Report,” Israeli U.N. Ambassador Gilad Erdan responded to U.S. Deputy U.N. Representative for Special Political Affairs Robert Wood holding a moment of silence for Ebrahim Raisi at the U.N., saying, “I consider Wood a friend and I know his heart is in the right place. So maybe that’s why the Russians and the Chinese suddenly stood up and surprised everyone.”

Erdan said the UN’s mourning of Raisi was “terrible. It’s shocking. Not only did they convene a General Assembly to pay tribute to a mass murderer, but the fact that the UN has already lowered its flag in mourning the death of this murderer. And the Security Council, the body responsible for global safety and security, also held a moment of silence to pay tribute to a mass murderer who not only killed thousands of his own citizens but thousands of Israelis and thousands of Americans. It’s insane that the UN, which was established after the Holocaust and World War II to prevent atrocities and protect human rights, is now paying tribute to a dictator and showing such tribute.” [who] He was also a mass murderer.”

Co-host John Roberts asked, “You mentioned the moment of silence at the UN Security Council…Ambassador Robert Wood waited until everyone else had stood up, and then he stood up anyway…Would it have been better for Ambassador Wood to have remained seated?”

Erdan responded: “I wasn’t there, but I consider Ambassador Wood a friend and I know his heart is in the right place. So maybe the Russians and the Chinese suddenly stood up and surprised everybody, but I’m not his spokesman. I think it’s fair to ask him this question.”
