Jelly Roll has spoken openly about his sobriety.
In an interview Taste of the CountryThe country music star explained how “marijuana helped me stay sober.”
“I’ve always had issues with this, but my stance on marijuana remains the same. I believe marijuana has helped me in many ways with anxiety. This is a controversial topic, but marijuana has truly helped me stay sober.”

He added: “In a world without marijuana, Jelly Roll would be taking codeine, taking Xanax and snorting cocaine. But in a world with marijuana, I think I’d be OK.”
Jelly Roll also addressed addiction. “I know I have friends that wouldn’t do that,” he told the outlet. “I have friends that are in this program that are absolutely against anything mind-altering, and I respect those people. I have a lot of respect for those people. But that’s not how my sobriety worked out.”

The “Save Me” singer has recently been training for a half marathon, and has lost between 50 and 75 pounds. The weight continues to decrease, He told Fox News Digital that he plans to compete in the 13.1-mile race next year after completing some shorter distance races first.

“I’m training as much as I can. It’s an 18-month process,” Jelly Roll explained, “I want to run two more 5Ks first, and then my goal is to run a half marathon next fall.”

“When I started doing this in January, I couldn’t walk a mile,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “So the fact that I got the three points today, whatever that is, I felt really, really good.”

He added that he lost “like 50 to 70 pounds” during the 5K training.

Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley Deford) has been open about his struggles with weight loss over the years. Country Star She revealed on Instagram that she weighed over 500 pounds before embarking on a health regimen in 2015 and losing 200 pounds.
