One of the nation’s busiest airports has been ordered to ground flights amid a hectic Memorial Day travel weekend.
On Monday afternoon, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City’s Queens borough received a grounding order from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Air Traffic Control System Command Center.
Thunderstorms were cited as the cause of the ground outage.
The ground outage period is expected to last from 6:30pm to 7:45pm on Monday.
JFK Airport is considered one of the busiest airports in the United States.
It consistently ranks among the top 10 busiest airport hubs in the United States.
