Twenty-five people stranded on the island were rescued by a Carnival Cruise Line ship that responded to a distress call off the coast of Ensenada, Mexico on Saturday and have now returned home.
The cruise line responded to a distress call from the U.S. Coast Guard that a small boat carrying passengers was stranded in the middle of the ocean. FOX 5/Kushi report.
The Coast Guard said after the rescue that the vessel “was reported to be delayed on Thursday” but that several attempts had been made in the first 24 hours to locate the vessel and rescue the crew, but without success.
An Air Force C-130 located the missing vessel and notified the US Coast Guard, which immediately notified all available responders. A Carnival Cruise Line vessel en route from its homeport in Long Beach, California to Ensenada, Mexico responded to the call and changed course to rescue those stranded on board.
Ann Official Statement A Carnival spokesman confirmed: “The rescue was quickly completed and all 25 people stranded on board, including three children, were safely welcomed aboard the Carnival Radiance.”
For passengers who were worried that the incident would cause trip delays, Carnival assured them that the three-day cruise would go ahead as scheduled despite the incident.
