The ex-fiancee of “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wachter broke down in tears over his death and slammed the shooters who took his life, saying, “They shot the wrong person.”
His distraught ex-wife, Tessa Farrell, made a desperate appeal to the gunmen, who have been on the run since the shooting in downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning.
“If anybody saw this, I’m sorry, but the guy who shot was wrong,” Farrell said through tears. “You can get a decent job. I know the job market is tough, but we’re all in this together. You don’t need to steal, especially not take someone’s life to do it.”
Mr Farrell then made an emotional appeal for change to happen “as a community” about the rise in crime.
Wachter, 37, was shot and killed while trying to protect a female co-worker from a trio of armed robbers who were after her car’s catalytic converter.
For many years, he played the role of Brando Corbin on the long-running soap opera.
