“General Hospital” star Johnny Wactor died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the Los Angeles County coroner has determined.
Wachter died during what appears to be a botched robbery in the early morning hours of May 25. His death has been recorded as a homicide, police said. people.
According to the famous actor’s brother, Grant Wachter, Johnny had just finished his shift as a bartender. Grant said that Johnny and a female co-worker were walking to their car when they were confronted by three armed men who were apparently trying to steal a catalytic converter from Wachter’s car. One of the gunmen is believed to have shot and killed Wachter, according to People magazine.

When Wachter approached her car, Grant noticed it was “jacked up or elevated in some way,” People reported. “He thought it was being towed.”
According to Grant, the actor quickly realized “they clearly weren’t tow truck drivers” and put his body in front of his female co-worker to protect her from harm. He had his hands up when he was allegedly shot.
“He didn’t confront them,” Grant told People magazine. “He didn’t try to stop them. He just took a step back and tried to calm the situation.”

Mr Grant said the armed men “were scared because they didn’t expect anyone to come at them. There’s nothing more dangerous than a coward with a gun.”
The three armed suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle. Wachter was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Wachter is best known for his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital, but other credits include Army Wives, NCIS, Station 19, Agent X, Training Day, Criminal Minds and The OA.

“Maybe God willing, the killer will be caught and his family will get to meet him in person, which could bring closure to this tragedy,” Michael Kinnard wrote on the crowdfunding page, which as of this writing has raised just over $86,000 of its $100,000 goal.
