Trump adviser on Hogan's verdict remarks: You just ended your campaign

Chris LaCivita, an adviser to former President Trump, said former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (Republican), who is running for Maryland’s next Senate seat, ended his campaign with comments he made before the ruling in the former president’s hush money lawsuit.

Minutes before Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was found guilty of all 34 felony counts in the Manhattan hush-payment case, Hogan posted on social media platform X on Thursday saying Americans should respect the legal “process” and the verdict, “whatever the outcome.”

“At this dangerously divisive moment in history, leaders of all parties should not add fuel to the fire with even more poisonous partisanship.” Hogan says“We must reaffirm the rule of law that has made this country great.”

LaCivita, a veteran consultant who has overseen the day-to-day operations of the Republican National Committee (RNC) since March, fired back at the former governor just over an hour later, saying:Campaign has ended. “

Hogan, a frequent critic of President Trump, is serving two consecutive terms as governor of heavily Democratic Maryland and is seeking to become the first Republican politician to win a seat in the House of Representatives.

The moderate Republican, who announced his candidacy for Senate in February, said in March that he would not vote for either President Trump or President Biden in 2024.

Hogan is trying to build a diverse coalition of voters to win the November election, but he also stresses that he cannot count on either Senate Republicans or Democrats for his vote and is demonstrating his determination as an independent voter.

Hogan will face Prince George’s County Mayor Angela Alsobrooks, who won the Maryland Republican primary in May and defeated Maryland Rep. David Trone in the Democratic primary.
