Americans Almost torn apart A new poll shows that Americans are at their most supportive when it comes to whether they support the recent conviction of former President Trump in his New York hush money trial.
According to a YouGov survey, about 50% of Americans agree The jurors expressed their views on the verdict, which found the former president guilty of 34 charges. In the same survey, about 19 percent of people said they were “not sure” whether they agreed with the verdict, while about 30 percent said they did not agree.
Trump became the first former U.S. president to be convicted of a crime after a jury found him guilty on Thursday of all charges of falsifying business records in connection with hush money paid by his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Shortly after the jury’s verdict was read, Trump blasted the trial outside the courtroom.
“This has been a rigged and dishonorable trial. The real verdict will be given by the American people on November 5th. The American people know what happened here, everybody knows what happened here,” Trump said.
Other facts revealed in the investigation include: about Forty-seven percent of Americans agree that the former president received a “fair trial.” About 18% said they were “not sure” whether Trump received a “fair trial,” and about 37% said he did not.
President Biden on Friday criticized Trump’s comments about the fairness of the trial.
“It is reckless, dangerous and irresponsible to say there was fraud simply because you don’t like the verdict,” the president said.
“Our justice system must be respected and we must never allow anyone to destroy it. That’s all,” he added.
The YouGov survey was conducted on May 30 and drew responses from 3,040 U.S. adults.
