Golf influencer Paige Spiranac was among those tuning in to watch the WNBA debut of Kaitlyn Clark and Angel Reese, but she was disappointed by a play by another Chicago Sky player late in the match.
Sky guard Chennedy Carter came off the bench and scored a team-high 18 points, but he took Clark to the floor with a hip check in the third quarter.

Spiranac, a former college golf star with a huge following on social media, also commented on the play.
“Imagine bringing millions of new fans to the game and making more money for all players as a result, and then they treat them like this. A rising tide floats all boats,” Spiranac wrote to X.
Spiranac isn’t the only one to join the ranks of sports fans accusing WNBA players of being jealous of Clark.

Carter was asked about the incident after the game but did not respond.
“I will not be answering any questions about Keiltyn Clark,” she said.
Clark said Carter’s move was not a “basketball play.”
The Fever barely held on to a 71-70 victory, and despite Carter’s 18 points, it wasn’t enough to secure a win in the first game of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Clark scored 11 points, making his first two 3-pointers but missing his last seven.

Indiana fell to 2-8 on the season. Chicago fell to 3-4.
