Following a tough game against the Indiana Fever on Sunday, Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter’s foul was upgraded and rookie forward Angel Reese was disciplined by the WNBA.
Carter received a common foul for a hip check on Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, but the foul was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 violation after a league review of the play. Reese was fined $1,000 for not speaking to reporters after the game.
The Sky were also fined $5,000 for failing to ensure all players complied with the league’s media policy.

Carter avoided a fine or suspension for the play.
She collided with Clark in the third quarter, sending him to the ground, sparking outrage on social media. Carter refused to answer questions about the former Iowa star.
“I didn’t expect it,” Clark said after the game. “It’s what it is. It’s a physical game. You make free throws and you go on offense and I think that’s what we did.”
Fever general manager Lin Dunn and head coach Christy Sides both disputed Clark’s treatment.
“There’s a difference between tough defense and unnecessary offensive moves!” Dan wrote in X’s post. “This has to stop! The league needs to ‘clean up’ the garbage! This league is not like that!!”

Syed told reporters he had sent the tapes to the league office.
“We’re trying to avoid getting fined,” Sides said, “and I’m just going to continue to send these possessions and plays to the league and hopefully they’ll start to take a closer look at some of the things that we’re seeing or think are going on.”
“I’m just happy that Kaitlyn handled it the way she did. It’s tough when you keep getting beaten down like she did and not getting rewarded with free throws or foul calls. She fights through it and keeps fighting. I appreciate how she handled it and I’m really proud of her.”
