Commanders release Brandon McManus after sexual assault allegations

Brandon McManus has been released by the Commanders.

The team announced the move Sunday night, less than a week after the NFL kicker was accused of sexually assaulting two flight attendants.

McManus signed a one-year contract with the Commanders in March after spending the first nine years of his career with Denver and spending the 2023 season with the Jaguars.

The Commanders currently have no other kickers on the roster.

McManus was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed against him and the Jaguars after he allegedly attempted to perform sexual acts on two women on a flight from Jacksonville to London on Sept. 28 last season.

The lawsuit, filed last month in Duval County Circuit Civil Court, reports that the women claim they suffered “severe mental distress, anxiety, psychological and emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation” and are seeking more than $1 million in damages.
