‘I’m On Fire for Jesus’ – Kat Von D Reflects on Baptism and Converting to Christianity

About two years after she publicly declared that she had ditched her occult books and dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, reality TV star Kat Von D underwent a life-altering transformation. She recounted her story of how God transformed her life to Christian podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey. CBN News I will report.

“I was 20, barely turned 21, and I was a full-blown alcoholic,” she said on Stuckey’s “Relatable” podcast. “I was drinking all the time. I got into drugs at that point, but somehow, miraculously, I still showed up to work every day and had a great job, but behind the scenes, my addiction was growing and growing.”

Despite her growing success as a reality TV star, she felt lost.

“I wasn’t actively pursuing any belief system, I was just sad, I was drinking, and I was looking for answers in the wrong places. And it wasn’t until I got sober — which was in July 17 years ago — that I realized I wanted to fix myself and I started to get interested in a lot of new age stuff,” she continued.

As CBN News According to reports, Von D shared on Instagram that she was baptized in October at the Swiss Baptist Church in Indiana in front of a small group of friends and family.

“Katherine von Drachenberg, you profess your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and, in obedience to God’s command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” the pastor said at the time before lowering her into the water.

Her confession was well received, but some Christians criticized her for not fitting the image they had expected.

“There’s so many judgmental Christians on my Instagram right now that it’s so off-putting to people who are really seeking God that I’ve had to block and delete,” she told Stuckey. “It ends up alienating people.”

She addressed her critics in an Instagram video a few weeks after her baptism, noting that the most negative comments came from Christian rather than atheist followers.

“My baptism was such a beautiful thing, such a historic moment. At least for me, it was one of the most important days of my life, so it’s strange that a small percentage of negative and critical Christians would attack me in public,” she said of people who called her baptism “fake” and a “publicity stunt.”

“It’s crazy that we still live in an age where people judge others by their appearance,” she joked. “I didn’t know there was a uniform that you had to wear if you gave your heart to Jesus.”

Despite this, she said she is committed to Jesus.

“I’m passionate about Jesus, and I don’t see that passion waning,” she asserted. “The more I learn, the more excited I get about things and the more at ease I feel with what’s going on in the world.”
