President Joe Biden has seen a surge in illegal border crossings since taking office thanks to his policies, but he appears to have concluded that action is now necessary, even as Republican politicians like Rep. Jim Jordan say it’s too late.

However, after hearing the news, other lawmakers, including Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington, spoke out against the decision.
“An enforcement-only approach has never worked, and it is deeply unfortunate that the Biden Administration has succumbed to this same approach. The truth is that what happens at the border is deeply tied to the effectiveness of our legal immigration system,” Jayapal said.
“We should be working to honor the contributions of immigrants by controlling our borders, expanding legal pathways, providing pathways to citizenship, and prioritizing a fair, orderly, and humane system. Today’s action is a dangerous step in the wrong direction,” she added.
Given that Biden has been in office for nearly four years and millions of illegal immigrants have already crossed the border, coincidentally with the 2024 election looming, the president now appears to be trying to portray himself as a strong leader ready to take action.
The executive order states that the order will “tightly limit” the number of illegal border crossings: If there are an average of 2,500 crossings per day, Border Patrol will be able to quickly remove migrants without giving them a chance to apply for asylum.
Additionally, because anyone under the age of 18 is not affected by the new executive order, cartel members will likely continue trafficking minors, telling families that their children will have a better life in the United States, he said. Fox News.
For years, Biden has hesitated to acknowledge he needs Congress’ help and acted as if he was powerless to stop the more than doubling of illegal border crossings that have occurred under his administration.
Biden used his unilateral powers to reverse the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which had helped significantly reduce the surge in asylum requests at the border, on his first day in office, a move many criticize as an attempt to increase the number of future Democrats who will need U.S. taxpayer-funded assistance to support themselves and their families.
Biden appears to be turning a blind eye to the issue, and may also be concerned about avoiding tensions with progressive lawmakers in his party who want to lift border restrictions.
But that tactic completely backfired.
Biden’s low approval ratings, at least according to pollsters who cited his low approval ratings, are due in part to his poor handling of illegal immigration.
“In the run-up to the presidential election, immigration has risen to the top of voter concerns, along with the economy and inflation. It’s no longer just a border issue, big Democratic cities like Chicago and New York are dealing with an influx of immigrants. Trump leads by 17 points on immigration and 14 points on the economy and inflation. According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll last month,“, USA Today report.
Biden is reportedly scheduled to sign the executive order in front of South Texas mayors on Tuesday.
But the Biden administration has yet to detail how it will get the manpower it needs to turn back incoming migrants from the border, or how much additional funding it will require.
Republican political analysts have questioned whether Biden suddenly chose this new border direction to distract attention from his family and avoid criticism during Hunter Biden’s gun trial in Los Angeles, California.
