The PGA Tour returned to the United States for its seventh signature event of the season, the Memorial Tournament Presented by Workday.
The tournament is being held at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village Golf Club. It is one of three senior tournaments with a cutoff after 36 holes. All golfers tied for 50 or more strokes and within 10 strokes of the leader play on the weekend. The field is now at 73 players, after last week’s RBC Canadian Open winner Robert McIntyre withdrew.

Memorial Tournament Preview:
Defending champion Viktor Hovland is back and looking for his first win of the 2024 season. After a slow start to the season, the Norwegian finished third at the PGA Championship.
He’s had some time off since then, but he’s back and ready to become the first player since Tiger Woods to win back-to-back tournaments at The Memorial.
But this is the opening act of the U.S. Open, which takes place next week at Pinehurst Resort and Golf Club, so there are a lot of big names among the field.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is back on track after his arrest and PGA Championship Week. He finished third last year behind Denny McCarthy and Hovland. Scheffler has only finished outside the top 10 once this season, so it will be interesting to see if he can add another win to his roster.
PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele is back after a break from his big win at Valhalla, and Rory McIlroy finished tied for fourth at the RBC Canadian Open last week, giving him five top 10s in 12 starts at the event.
Auburn’s Jackson Coyvan will be playing this week as he is the 2024 Jack Nicklaus Award winner. He recently swept the college awards, including the Haskins, Hogan, Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson Rookie of the Year awards.
Koibun also helped the Tigers win their first NCAA team championship and finished runner-up in the individual tournament, and this week will mark his first PGA TOUR start at the Memorial.
There are a lot of notable players playing this week for the big bucks and a shot at the Memorial Tournament winner.
