Angel Reese ejected after controversial double technical vs. Liberty

Just days after teammate Chennedy Carter made headlines with a vicious foul on Kaitlyn Clark, Angel Reese also clashed with the WNBA’s referees.

Reese appeared to say something to one of the officials late in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s 88-75 loss to Liberty and was given a double technical and immediately ejected.

With 2:31 left in the game, Reese was called for her fifth personal foul while going for a defensive rebound after a missed 3-pointer by Sabrina Ionescu and appeared to be arguing with referee Charles Watson.

As Reese began to walk toward the key, he blew his whistle, issuing two technical fouls and ejecting her from the game.

Before her ejection, the Louisiana State University rookie had matched a career-high with 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, recording her second WNBA double-double.

That wasn’t the only controversy in the game. Late in the third quarter, Liberty players Betnijah Laney-Hamilton and Marlena Mabry were called for two technical fouls for aggressive play, including shoving each other.
