Trump VP Contenders Receive Vetting Material Request

Former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign has begun the formal process of gathering information from his selected running mate.

However, it is unclear which candidates received the selection materials, and people familiar with the process say Trump’s search for a running mate is still in the early stages.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Gov. Doug Burgum (R-Ohio) are all seen as leading candidates, according to people familiar with the internal discussions.

Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York are two other candidates being considered.

Trump has endorsed a number of candidates in recent months, with frequent feedback from supporters, investors and guests at his Mar-a-Lago resort, and he often publicly praises some of the candidates at campaign rallies and in interviews.

Additionally, in recent weeks, the candidates have publicly shown their support for Trump, both by appearing in court at Trump’s criminal trial in New York and through online posts on social media platforms.

Asked about his choice of running mate, Trump named Scott, Burgum, Rubio, Vance and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson. Newsmax on tuesday.
