Ticket holders must visit one of nine California Lottery offices by the deadline to claim their prize or their tickets will be void.

The ticket was purchased at the SK gas station at 11280 National Boulevard in Los Angeles for the drawing on Dec. 12 of last year.
The winning ticket matched the numbers 8, 23, 44, 45 and 53. It was just one number short, Mega Number 3, that missed out on the big win.

The state lottery is urging all players to double-check their Mega Millions tickets as soon as possible.
California Lottery rules state that Mega Millions winners who match five numbers have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.
If no claim is filed, the $2.9 million would go to California’s public schools.
