MLB GMs have eyes on Mets if they become MLB deadline sellers

GMs are said to be particularly interested in what the Mets might do because they potentially have more tradeable players than any other team.

Pete Alonso, Luis Severino, Sean Manaea, J.D. Martinez, Harrison Bader, Jake Diekman, Adam Ottavino, Reid Garrett and Sean Reid-Foley should have value, as well as Starling Marte and Jose Quintana if they are willing to lower their contracts.

Jeff McNeil’s value is now zero, which unfortunately comes at a time when a change of scenery seems wise. The Mariners have always liked him.

What’s happening isn’t Carlos Mendoza’s fault, and his boss knows it. “Amazing” is the assessment.

Blue Jays officials will likely be reluctant to move Bo Bichette and Vlad Guerrero Jr., even though they are unlikely to get long-term deals.

After going from October surprise to disappointment, it’s hard to imagine the Diamondbacks would sell the team, but if they did, star first baseman Christian Walker and closer Paul Sewald would likely be trade candidates.

There is no indication yet that the Diamondbacks have made an offer to Walker, who will become a free agent after this season.

Rival teams also don’t view the Cardinals as sellers, and if that changes, Tommy Edman could interest the Dodgers.

Mookie Betts is a good shortstop, but an even better second baseman.

The credit for developing MVP candidate Juan Soto into a talented outfielder goes to Alex Ochoa as well as Jackie Bradley Jr.

Gerrit Cole felt “great” after his first rehab appearance.

The Yankees have a great pitching staff even without Cole, but they will need some.
