Trump leads Biden by 5 points

A new poll shows former President Trump leading President Biden by five points in North Carolina.

investigationA poll conducted by the Survey Research Center at East Carolina University puts Trump’s approval rating in North Carolina at 48% and Biden’s at 43%.

The survey found that among those who said they planned to vote on Election Day, only 4% said they were undecided about who they would vote for, and 3% said they would support an independent or third-party candidate.

Forty-two percent of voters identified inflation and the overall cost of living as the most important issue facing North Carolinians, while 17 percent of respondents said the economy in general was the biggest issue, and 13 percent said the state’s abortion laws were the most important issue.

More than half of North Carolinians, 55%, are disapproving of Biden’s performance in office, with Governor Roy Cooper (North Carolina Acting Governor) having a higher disapproval rating than the president, at 39%.

North Carolina is a key battleground state that Trump won in the 2020 presidential election.

In a poll conducted this week, 29% of respondents said Trump’s conviction in the hush money trial would make them less likely to vote for him in November’s presidential election.

Thirty-seven percent of respondents said a criminal conviction would not affect their vote.

The poll was conducted among 1,332 North Carolina voters between May 31 and June 3. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.

The survey follows recent polls showing Trump ahead of Biden in other key states, including Nevada and Arizona.
