Judge Juan Marchand, who presided over Donald Trump’s so-called “hush money” trial, expressed concern in a letter on Friday about social media comments posted on Meta (Facebook) by someone claiming to be a juror’s cousin.

It’s been a week since the former president was found guilty of 34 criminal counts by a 12-judge jury.
“Today, the court became aware of comments posted on the Unified Court System’s public Facebook page and is bringing this to your attention,” Judge Juan Marchan said. letter to Trump’s lawyers and prosecutors in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office.
“In the comments, user ‘Michael Anderson’ said: ‘My cousin is on the jury and says Trump will be found guilty…Thank you all for your hard work!!!…'” Marchan wrote.
Marchan said the statement came in response to a post made on the court’s Facebook page on May 29.NumberMarchan argues that it’s unclear when the comments were posted because the platform classified them as “one week old” and the comments “related to oral argument in the Fourth Appellate Division that is unrelated to this proceeding.”
While the New York State Unified Court System’s original Facebook post is no longer available, Anderson has made similar comments in previous posts, most notably in a 9:01 a.m. post on May 20, where he continued to claim to be the cousin of one of the jurors.

As of 5:50 p.m. Friday, comments on Anderson’s May 20 post appeared to have been hidden or deleted, but the court’s post was still up.
On May 30, Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business documents in an attempt to cover up making hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Former President Trump’s lawyers and prosecutors have been warned and are expected to respond to the letter as soon as possible, but it is unclear at this point what outcome the judge’s Friday night warning will have.
