Costco is recalling its popular Tillamook cheese slices after it was found to have gray and black plastic pieces in the packaging.
The wholesaler announced Letter on the website The company announced Saturday that the recall involves 32-ounce packs of Tillamook Monterey Jack and Tillamook Colby-Jack cheese slices that have a best-by date of Oct. 22, 2024.
The affected products are only produced for Costco stores in the Northwest.
“Out of an abundance of caution, and as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product quality and safety,
“Due to the levels being too high, we will be taking steps to voluntarily remove this product from the market,” declared the letter, written by Tillamook Executive Vice President Mike Beaver.
Beever added that people who have already eaten cheese slices from the affected products “do not need to take any action.”
“The presence of foreign plastic material is highly unlikely,” he noted.
Meanwhile, anyone who purchased the affected Tillamook cheese slices but has not yet eaten them is being encouraged to return them to Costco stores for a full refund.

Tillamook cheese slices aren’t the only product Costco has recalled this year.
In February, several dairy products made by retail giant Rizo Lopez Foods Inc. were recalled following an outbreak of Listeria.
