Republican George Conway, former President Trump’s most vocal critic, has advised liberals to “laugh at him” and call him a madman.
Conway performed alongside comedian and “Daily Show” senior correspondent Ronny Chieng. Discuss on Thursday President Trump’s recent guilty verdict in the hush money trial and the upcoming election.
Conway argued that the mainstream media and the country have not had a “sufficient national discussion” about Trump’s mental health. Conway said she believes Trump has narcissistic personality disorder and is a sociopath, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).

“This needs to be discussed openly,” the prominent lawyer said, “and when he’s doing things that meet those standards, it needs to be pointed out. And when people do that, it drives him nuts.”
Conway said such a move could create a vicious cycle: When people say the former president is “crazy,” he acts like he’s crazy, “and then more videos are made.”
“My other advice to liberals is not to get angry,” he said. “People who support Trump love to see liberals angry, that’s why they love him.”
“You can make fun of him, you can ridicule him, I mean, that’s what these shows do,” Conway told Chieng.
“You’re kind of addressing the whole premise of the show right now,” Chien responded. “That’s what we’re trying to do here.”
Conway agreed, noting that fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s ongoing battle with the former president “plays a key role.”
“Laugh at him,” Conway suggested, “but it doesn’t mean you don’t understand the gravity of what’s happening to this country.”
Ms Conway said that if Mr Trump was re-elected in November the US would be “plunged into social unrest the likes of which we have never seen before”.
Asked to respond, the Trump campaign said, “George Conway is clearly a loser with serious mental issues and Trump Derangement Syndrome who needs to be addressed.”
