There was a time when almost half of the population was willing to accept the core transgender claim – that an individual’s sex and gender can be different. Title IX was amended to entrench this claim, effectively All Federal Agencies And every major corporation has ritually embraced it. But the public now seems to be beginning to withdraw their support.
Pew Research Center
release According to the report released Thursday, 65% of American adults surveyed in April said an individual’s sex is determined biologically.
90% of Trump supporters and 39% of Biden supporters say gender is determined by biology, along with 64% of black Biden supporters, 46% of Hispanic Biden supporters, 32% of white Biden supporters and 27% of Asian Biden supporters.
The percentage of voters who believe that the sex they are born with determines whether they are male or female has increased since 2017.
The rejection of social constructivist core premises by two-thirds of registered voters represents a continuation of a trend spanning several years.
“The percentage of voters who believe that their sex at birth determines whether they are male or female has increased since 2017, and this increase has occurred across both parties,” the report said.
The Pew Research Center reported that in September 2017, 53% of registered voters said that gender corresponds to biological sex. 45% said that sex and gender are distinct. In 2021, the share of Americans who affirm that gender is determined by sex increased to 56%. This figure rose another 4 percentage points in 2022.
Between 2017 and 2024, the belief that sex and sexuality are distinct fell by 9 percentage points among Democrats and Democratic-leaning respondents. Over the same period, that belief fell by 12 percentage points among Republicans and Republican-leaning respondents, from 20% to 8%.
A majority of American voters, 56%, also seem uncomfortable describing individuals using plural pronouns like “they” or “them” rather than “he” or “she.”
While 66% of Biden supporters (69% of whites, 68% of Hispanics, and 72% of Asians) are comfortable referring to men and women as genderless plurals, Black supporters again are less in favor of the plan: 55% of Black Biden supporters were uncomfortable with the use of “they/them” pronouns.
The vast majority of Trump supporters, apparently, prefer to call people like they are, especially those over the age of 50.
There have been other signs of waning support for LGBT policies in recent months and years.
The Public Religion Research Institute interviewed more than 22,000 American adults last year for its so-called “Map of American Values” and found a two percentage point drop in support for gay “marriage,” a four point drop in support for anti-discrimination protections and a five point drop in opposition to refusing services based on Americans’ deeply held religious beliefs.
Melissa Deckman, CEO of the institute, said:
Said PBS News reported that the decline was “driven primarily by partisan polarization.” Deckman also tried to link the decline to so-called “Christian nationalism.”
BlazeNews previously noted that Canada has also seen declines. A recent Ipsos poll found Shown Support for so-called LGBT rights has “fallen sharply,” while support for explicit expressions of sexual orientation and so-called gender identity has fallen by 12% since 2021.
