Lucy Morgan asked eerie question before death in badminton accident

Just weeks before she died in a freak badminton accident, a 6-year-old New Jersey girl asked her mother a disturbing question.

According to an obituary published Saturday in The Washington Post by her father, James, a pastor, little Lucy Morgan had asked her mother, Bethany, “how to be with God and be saved” two weeks before she was hit in the skull by shards of a badminton racket during a family trip.

“Bethany explained things to her and offered to pray with her, but Lucy, being typical of her independent spirit, wanted to pray on her own,” her obituary stated.

“She went to her room and prayed to God. She later wrote about it in her journal, expressing her love for God in words and pictures,” the article continues.

The tragic incident occurred on June 1 while on family vacation in Limerick, Maine, when Lucy’s 10-year-old brother’s racket broke during a downward swing.

A sharp shard from the handle struck the girl in the head, causing fatal brain injuries.

According to her obituary, Lucy loved Chick-fil-A, drawing, dancing, soccer, attending church and spending time with her family.

“Lucy’s loving spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her,” he added. “Though her time on earth was short, her impact was profound as her story spread. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.”

After the accident, Lucy was flown by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she was rushed to a waiting operating room.

Part of his skull was removed to relieve pressure inside his brain.

After surgery, the Morgans were told her brain had essentially stopped functioning and she was unlikely to recover.

Lucy’s funeral will be held on June 15th at 11am. Green Pond Bible Chapel in Rockaway Township.

A GoFundMe campaign set up to help the family has already raised more than $100,000.
