Hartford, Connecticut, Mayor Arunand Arulampalam (Democrat) has criticized residents in predominantly black neighborhoods for arming themselves to fight violent crime.

The brigade was founded by Cornell Lewis Said Fox News: “The Democratic Party establishment in Hartford is either unwilling or unable to do it, and people are paying their taxes and not actually getting any services. So, number one, I want people to understand that self-defense is not a dirty word.”

Mayor Arulanparam issued a statement condemning the armed citizens group, saying, “Our community has experienced much pain and trauma. What we need is for those who love our city to work hard to heal that pain, not roam the streets with guns and attempt to enforce the law in their own hands.”
