Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) said on “Fox News Sunday” this week that President Joe Biden is pandering to “the pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic Party instead of supporting Israel.”
Host Shannon Bream said, “The President was interviewed by Time magazine a few days ago and asked, ‘Some in Israel are suggesting that Prime Minister Netanyahu is prolonging the war for his own political self-preservation. Do you agree?’ President Biden responded, ‘I’m not going to comment on that,’ adding that there are good reasons for people to draw that conclusion.’ What do you think of his response regarding our allies in the region? What would you say to the critics who say Prime Minister Netanyahu is doing just that?”
Cotton said, “This is just another smear by Joe Biden against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the entire Israeli government. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s policies are very popular. As we saw yesterday, the war cabinet has approved the missions. Joe Biden has tried at every turn to limit Israel’s freedom of action and ability to defend itself, and to put more pressure on Israel, but he has not tried to put pressure on Hamas and its Middle Eastern backers. Consider what happened outside the White House yesterday. An anti-American, pro-Hamas nutjob defaced and desecrated a statue of a great veteran. This is clearly a violation of federal law. Yet the Joe Biden administration has allowed it. There will be no arrests or prosecutions for violating that law. I will introduce legislation this week that will impose tougher penalties so we can lock up these nutjobs.”
He added, “Joe Biden thinks these pro-Hamas anti-American lunatics should guide US policy towards Israel. What we should be doing is fully supporting Israel, and if we had done that since the October 7 attacks, this war would probably be over already, the hostages freed, and there would have been less civilian casualties and suffering in Gaza. But instead of supporting Israel, Joe Biden is pandering to the pro-Hamas minority in the Democratic Party.”
