Usain Bolt stretched off in alarming soccer charity match exit

The fastest man in the world was forced to slow down.

Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt ruptured his Achilles tendon during a charity soccer match on Sunday.

“Ecstatic Achilles” Bolt posted on X after the match.“But we know we are warriors 💪🏿.”

Bolt also posted a photo of himself sitting on crutches in the locker room, with his right foot in his boot.

The dynamo was represented as captain and centre-back in the Soccer Aid World XI team, which faced off against an England side featuring a host of footballing legends including Jill Scott, Joe Cole and Jermain Defoe.

All seemed well until the start of the second half.

England put in a ferocious attacking display, with Defoe running through Soccer Aid World’s third line of defence.

Bolt expertly reached the backline and could be seen reaching for his ankle.

At first glance, it looked like Bolt had sprained his ankle, or so it seemed, until paramedics arrived and carried him off the field.

Things quickly became tense but Bolt appeared in good spirits and was seen clapping as he was carried off the pitch.

Bolt is expected to be out of action for several months due to his injury.

The incident, along with the name of one of the world’s greatest athletes, was quickly spread across media platforms and had a major impact on aspiring athletes.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Bolt won the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100 metres relay.

He became the first athlete to set world records in all three events with times of 9.69 seconds, 19.30 seconds and 37.10 seconds respectively.

Bolt is also currently the only sprinter to have won the 100m and 200m races at three consecutive Olympic Games (2008, 2012, 2016).

He retired in 2017.
