The New Jersey Attorney General’s office is considering whether former President Trump’s recent conviction in a New York hush-money case will affect his ability to hold liquor licenses at three of his golf courses in the state.
A spokesman for the attorney general’s office confirmed that liquor licenses for Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck, Lamington Farm Club and Trump National Golf Club Pine Hill were valid as of Monday. Lamington Farm Club is Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control is “reviewing the impact of President Trump’s conviction on the above licenses and will not be commenting further at this time,” a spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
according to New Jersey Law“No liquor license shall be issued to any person under the age of 18 or to any person convicted of a crime of moral turpitude.” Handbook It provides that crimes related to “moral turpitude” are generally “considered serious by society.”
Additionally, applicants for liquor licenses are required to be of “reputable” character and to operate their business in a “reputable manner.”
A jury last month found the former president guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with repaying payments made by former Trump operative Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels to silence her about an alleged affair with Trump.
The former president has denied the affair and has pleaded not guilty. His sentence is due to be handed down just four days before next month’s Republican National Convention, where he is likely to be formally nominated as the GOP’s presidential candidate.
He has also vowed to appeal the sentence.
The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign and the Trump Organization for comment.
