Chiefs defensive end BJ Thompson suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a team meeting but was released from the hospital a few days later.
Thompson’s agent, Chris Turnage, said: NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero The Chiefs player was released from hospital on Monday night.
Thompson was taking part in a special teams meeting at the Chiefs’ facility on Thursday when the incident occurred and was reportedly handled swiftly by the Chiefs’ medical team.

The 2023 fifth-round pick out of Stephen F. Austin State University was initially listed as unconscious but was in stable condition. His agent told Pelissero on Thursday night.
in In a statement to KCTV on FridayTurnage praised the Chiefs’ medical staff for their quick response.
“Some of the Chiefs staff came out today to talk to BJ and I thought that was a great touch,” Turnage said. “The Chiefs training staff did a great job and I want to thank them. Without them this story would have been a lot different.”
Chiefs vice president of sports medicine and performance Rick Burkholder told reporters on Friday that Thompson seemed awake, alert and “absolutely trending in the right direction.”
He also revealed that it was kicker Harrison Butker who notified the medical staff about Thompson’s condition.
“Our team administered CPR to him,” Burkholder said, “and he received one AED shock and regained consciousness. He was in cardiac arrest for less than a minute, a minute and a half. Our players, security staff and coaching staff did a phenomenal job managing the crisis. We then turned him over to the Kansas City (Mo.) Fire Department.”
The Chiefs canceled team activities on Thursday following the incident.
Last week, Thompson and the Chiefs visited the White House to celebrate the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl wins.
During his visit, Thompson posted on Instagram, “Posting from the White House, feeling like I’m President.”
