ANOTHER Disney fail: ‘The Acolyte’ 'Star Wars' series fails miserably after only two episodes

Just a few days ago, the TV series “Acolyte,” which combines the “Star Wars” franchise with murder mystery, began streaming on Disney+.

When the series was first announced, Lauren Chen said: BlazeTV Movie CriticI was excited.

“How amazing would it be if the actual Star Wars series had been a dark thriller murder mystery at the same time?” she asks. “I think that would have been fantastic.”

However, her excitement quickly faded once she actually started watching the series.

“But now that I’ve actually seen the first two episodes, I’m convinced that the creators of this show, specifically Leslye Headland, don’t know what a murder mystery is. If they did, they would never have presented the show in this way,” Lauren says.

“As someone who loves murder mysteries, I want darkness, intrigue and mystery. That’s not what I got with ‘Acolyte.'”

Firstly, the killer is no secret – in fact, the filmmakers reveal this information almost immediately.

“If it’s clear in the opening scene who committed the murder and how, it’s not a murder mystery,” Lauren laughs.

But that’s not the only way “The Acolyte” breaks murder mystery genre codes.

” [plot] “The plot twist is revealed about 20 minutes into the first episode,” Lauren sighs, adding, “All of the intrigue and tension and mystery the show has built up is immediately gone.”

For example, one of the big conflicts is “resolved almost instantly,” leaving the audience yawning.

“That’s not how you do a murder mystery,” Lauren criticizes.
