Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-New York, shared a post on Twitter highlighting the answers lawmakers were seeking in Tuesday’s interview.
She said she wants to know why Governor Cuomo forced New York nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients and why the state manipulated data about deaths that occurred in those nursing homes.
Committee members also want to know why the state didn’t use emergency resources or alternative locations, such as the USNS Comfort ship.
Finally, the Subcommittee would like to know when he began working on a book publishing deal.
Governor Cuomo spoke to reporters before heading to the hearing.
Cuomo said the investigation was partisan, but in 2022 the state comptroller found that Cuomo’s health department had not been transparent about the number of nursing home deaths, numbers believed to have been underestimated by as much as 50%.
