In a tense moment, two Alexandria, Virginia, police officers resuscitated a newborn baby who was born not breathing.

Police added that officers who rushed to the scene remained calm and quickly took matters into their own hands.
APD Officers Hilts and Riley entered an apartment in the 3800 block of Executive Avenue and rushed to locate the baby. They found the newborn baby without breathing or a heartbeat. Their trained paramedics skills kicked in and without hesitation, Officer Hilts began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while Officer Riley managed to calm the family. After two CPR attempts, Officer Hilts found a pulse and the baby, as Officer Hilts put it, “started to get fussy.” The sounds of the newborn baby crying echoed throughout the home.
Baby Louis IV and his mother are doing well and have returned home after a short stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Ms Hiltz said that during the tense moment her entire focus was on making sure Lewis was OK, adding: “I was so happy to hear him crying. In that moment all the stress and fear of the situation just disappeared.”
Officers then enjoyed a meeting with the baby, his mother and his father.
