Hunter Biden’s felony conviction in Delaware on three firearms charges allows the left to argue that “no one is above the law” while deflecting attention from the more serious allegations against his eldest son and his father.
Hunter’s conviction on Tuesday, for an illegal gun purchase in 2018, is a distraction from long-publicized and obvious corruption by Biden’s successors, including his own father, that, according to a mountain of evidence uncovered by both journalists and the House Oversight Committee, has caused far more damage to society than gun crime.
So Democrats and the media are rushing to consolidate Hunter’s entire situation into this one incident, implying that his being found “guilty” settles everything, and conveniently claiming that justice is blind in the wake of the obviously political conviction of Donald Trump.
“This ruling goes directly against everything the former president has ever pushed to undermine our legal system and our judicial system,” ABC News’ Rachel Scott said Tuesday. “We know President Biden is strongly opposed to this, and it’s notable that he said just a few days ago that he would respect the outcome of this ruling no matter what happens.”
Within minutes of Hunter’s guilty verdict being announced, Democratic activists in the media were clamoring to proclaim that it was “a really good day for the American system,” that it meant “the law applies to everyone,” and that Joe Biden is “the embodiment of the rule of law.”
“There aren’t many countries in the world where their sons and daughters are prosecuted in their justice system. America is very different. And I think this is a really good day for the American system. The American system is really trying to work,” Chuck Todd declared on MSNBC.
“I am more [the case] “This case speaks to two things about the rule of law in this country: One, the son of a sitting president was tried quickly, convicted through due process, and the other, the defendant’s father, the current president, has no intention of pardoning him, could have always ordered the Department of Justice to drop the case, but didn’t,” Andrew Weissmann, a former aide to special counsel Mueller and MSNBC commentator, enthused. “I think when you look at this case, what’s the bigger picture, the issue is not some drug addict who had a gun for two weeks, but the president of the United States having a gun.” [the] He is the embodiment of the rule of law.”
Oh, and don’t worry about the fact that Hunter Biden was arranging meetings between his father and foreign clients. Ukrainian And they avoid registering their Chinese clients as foreign agents, thus avoiding all the scrutiny and regulation that comes with it. And how it is being ignored.
Never mind the fact that emails about Hunter “holding 10% for the big guy” in a deal with China’s Huawei Technologies Co. are right there in front of the public, unexplained or justified, and are being ignored.
Never mind the fact that the Bidens are making millions in ostensibly highly sophisticated jobs while, as we were informed in a Delaware court, Hunter smoked a “golf-ball-sized” stick of crack “every 20 minutes” — I’m not interested in how that circle gets squared.
Well, actually, you could worry about crack addiction. It’s the political maneuvering that turned this court decision into a kind of hero’s journey.
The left wants you to believe this is just a story about addiction, a common American affliction. They claim there was no clever deal going on, so it’s just “Russian disinformation.”
“This trial, like virtually every criminal trial, is a story of personal tragedy, family tragedy, and the guilty verdict the jury handed down to Hunter Biden was a sentence not just for his conduct under the law, but for his collapse into drug addiction and its consequences. So many American families understand that, and now the First Family has,” ABC News whined in a report outside the courtroom. But then they revealed their political strategy: “Its political impact may be tempered by the fact that this is a tragedy that has affected so many American families, even the president’s family.”
President Biden clearly sees that narrative.
“I understand that many families who have had a loved one struggle with addiction feel proud to see their loved one overcome addiction and become strong and resilient in recovery. As I said last week, I accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers his appeal. Jill and I will always offer Hunter and the remaining family our love and support, no matter what.”
In other words, Hunter got caught up in a relatively minor crime as a result of his addiction. This is very sad and deserves sympathy. Leave him alone for now. There’s nothing else to see.
This case is the perfect gift for the Democrats: because it is a “felony,” they can claim equal application of the law following the Trump ruling, while at the same time creating the impression that the corrupt Hunters are responsible and Joe Biden is unscathed.
Hunter Biden is the smartest man we know.
