Nevada Democratic Rep. Susie Lee defeated her opponent in the Nevada primary on Tuesday.
Lee easily fended off a challenge from Rockatheena Brittain, who is biologically male but identifies as a transgender woman.
Her opponent did not receive any support or financial backing from the Democratic Party, Nevada Current.
“The Human Rights Campaign would not even consider me as an endorsement candidate,” Brittain told the outlet.

“They said they like Suzie Lee because she asks for their advice on issues. Wouldn’t it be better to support someone who actually knows the issues and doesn’t have to ask for advice?” Brittain said.
Given Lee’s name recognition, connections and Democratic base support, Brittain’s campaign against the three-term congressman was seen as a long shot.

Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District is notable for being included on the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) target list of districts it hopes Republicans will win in the 2024 election.
Lee’s district is among 36 others across the country that Republicans consider to have the “best chance of winning.”

“Republicans have a majority and we’re going on the offensive. We’re going to run a strong campaign with qualified candidates who can speak to the dangers of radical Democratic policies and we’re going to expand our House majority,” NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson, R.N., said earlier this year. “House Democrats should be shaking in fear.”
Republicans hope to end Democratic dominance in key districts, but are a nonpartisan political handicap. Cook Political Report They rate the race as “Democrat-favored” and predict that Lee will continue to have the lead.

The November election is more competitive in Nevada because President Biden is also running. Biden has recorded historically low approval ratings during his term in office, and the battleground state is a close race between Biden and former President Trump.
