“Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood has admitted she’s “worried” about her fiancé, Gary Waite, after he was reported missing.
“This is a big deal. His parents, everybody is very worried. I’m worried,” the MTV star said in the emotional video. Post to YouTube Wednesday.
“There wasn’t any big fight or anything like that. He’s currently missing.”
Portwood, 34, said police have a full account of Waite’s disappearance, explaining that Waite left her North Carolina home without her cellphone and was later seen alone at a Walgreens on Sunday.
Waite was about 30 years old and had his car keys and wallet, but there was no GPS in the car to get directions, she added.
“We’re in the mountains,” the reality TV star continued. “He’s never driven in the mountains. We’re so scared right now.”
Unable to hold back tears, Portwood said: “No one has found him or contacted us yet. I’m trying my best not to think of the worst.” [sic] In three days, I only got about an hour of sleep.”
The TV personality denied recent reports that she had had a “violent altercation” with Mr Waite before his disappearance.
“I am not who people have said I am over the years,” Portwood added, likely referring to previous reports that she allegedly attacked ex-boyfriend Andrew Glennon with a machete.
“I changed a long time ago, okay? You guys have to understand this. Please listen to me. I’m an honest person with you guys,” she continued.
“We’ve never had a serious fight. We’re very much in love. A man asked me to be with him and then he asked me to marry him.”
“I have never touched this man in a bad way. He has never touched me in a bad way. We are not yelling at each other…Please understand this, people change.”
Portwood then explained that she had an “emotional” conversation with Waithe afterwards, which she attributed to “his parents being Vietnamese” and her being herself, but did not provide specific details.
She described Waite as “the best man I’ve ever been with” and implored fans to pray for him.
Waithe’s disappearance came shortly after a source at Us Weekly reported his engagement to the former “16 & Pregnant” cast member.
On Friday, a source close to Portwood claimed that she was “really happy” and that the proposal had happened within the last few weeks.
“They are in couples counseling and talking about everything,” the source said. “They are being very proactive in their relationship and trying to prevent problems before they arise.”
Portwood and Waite, who live in Indiana, met on a dating app in 2023.
The “Teen Mom OG” star was in a relationship with ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley from 2008 to 2011. The couple share a 15-year-old daughter, Leah, together.
She also has a 6-year-old son, James, with her ex-husband, Glennon, whom she dated from 2018 until around 2022.
