Experts say politics makes strange alliances, but what about criminal convictions?
After Hunter Biden was convicted of all charges in the federal firearms case against Special Counsel David Weiss’ eldest son, Second Amendment groups argued that the laws used to convict Biden were unconstitutional. These same groups, while not necessarily defending Hunter, are vehemently opposed to his father, President Biden, and his stance on gun control.
“Joe Biden has done everything in his power to turn his administration into a weapon against guns, gun owners and gun dealers, and now it’s deeply ironic to see his own son embroiled in these efforts,” said Eric Pratt, executive vice president of Gun Owners of America.
Prosecutors said Biden lied in October 2018 on a federal firearms declaration, known as ATF Form 4473, by checking a box marked “no” when asked if he was an unlawful firearm user or addicted to controlled substances. Biden bought the gun at a store called StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington, Del. A jury convicted him after a week-long trial.

“The American Gun Owners Association believes the law is unconstitutionally broad, but as long as it remains the law, hunters do not deserve special treatment or mercy,” Pratt told Fox News Digital.
Biden’s trial lasted about six and a half days and included emotional testimony from family members, including his daughter Naomi Biden, his ex-wife Kathleen Boulle and his sister-in-law-turned-lover. Harry Bidendetailed his struggle with drug addiction at the time he bought the gun.

Mike McCoy, a former federal prosecutor and Second Amendment attorney at the Mountain States Legal Foundation, said the evidence against Biden is “overwhelming.”
“The prosecution did a great job presenting their case to the jury, as evidenced by the fact that it took them just three hours to reach a verdict,” McCoy told Fox News Digital. “While some may question the legitimacy of the gun control laws used to indict Biden, most gun owners will not lose sleep over this guilty verdict, given the administration’s disregard for the Second Amendment and its efforts to take guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens.”

But at least one group has offered to help Biden if he wants to challenge his conviction.
The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) on Tuesday renewed an offer it extended last year to represent Biden in a lawsuit challenging the law that convicted him for unconstitutional conduct.

“Unconstitutional and immoral federal regulations claim countless lives every year. We are proud to work to repeal these laws and create a free world. As in so many other cases, we stand ready to support Biden in challenging federal gun control laws,” said FPC Chairman Brandon Combs.
Biden’s lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Biden could face a total of 25 years in prison. Three Sins for a YearEach charge carries a maximum fine of $250,000 and three years’ probation, but because it is a first-time offense, Biden is unlikely to face the maximum sentences when he is sentenced at a later date.
