Speaking at the Everytown for Gun Safety annual training conference, President Joe Biden did what he does every time he steps onstage: he did something completely stupid.
Pat Gray and the Unleashed team We’ll interpret the speech from its inappropriate quotation of Thomas Jefferson to its wildly inaccurate claim that Biden was once a constitutional law professor (and every absurdity in between).
“There’s so much packed into two minutes and 11 seconds,” Pat sighs as he plays the clip.
During his speech, Biden referred to the “Iowa school shooting that left students and teachers dead.”
“My predecessor was asked about that,” Biden said, referring to Trump. “He said, ‘You’ve got to get over it.'”
“That’s totally out of context,” Pat criticizes.
“More children are killed by guns in America than are killed by cancer and car accidents combined,” Biden said.
“You really have to try your hardest to apply that statistic,” Pat said, noting that to justify the figure, “you have to include suicides and accidental gun deaths as well.”
In one of his lowest moments, Biden claimed that after leaving his position as vice president, he “became a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where I taught a constitutional law class.”
“No, that’s not true,” Pat corrects him. “Every liberal institution has fact-checked it. Everybody is saying it’s not true, it didn’t happen, and yet he keeps saying it anyway.”
Biden then brutally trashed a famous line from Thomas Jefferson’s letter to William Stevens Smith: “The tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
But Biden’s version was “the blood of freedom.” That was it.
“I’ve never heard that phrase,” Pat says. “He was far from it.”
