Bryson DeChambeau hit two unreal shots on final US Open hole

It took some heroics, especially two shots, for Bryson DeChambeau to grab victory at the U.S. Open.

And, of course, it helped that Rory McIlroy missed two putts in the final three holes of the tournament, including one from within 3 feet.

DeChambeau, who was tied with McIlroy for the lead at 6-under par, won his second U.S. Open title in five years despite some early difficulties.

On the 18th hole, DeChambeau’s first tee shot veered well left of the fairway and landed in the short native grasses next to the base of a tree.

He took several practice swings, figuring out how to control his backswing while unfortunately landing right in front of a tree branch.

On the next shot, he moved forward but still fell short as it went directly into the bunker.

DeChambeau then hit what he later called “probably the best shot of my life,” chipping the ball onto the green from 55 feet away, putting it within five feet of the hole and making the putt that ultimately gave him the U.S. Open title.

McIlroy bogeyed the 15th, 16th and 18th holes, paving the way for DeChambeau to win the tournament.

With this win, DeChambeau, who currently plays on the LIV Golf Tour, won his second major championship.

This year he also finished second in the PGA Championship.

It’s been a slump for McIlroy.

He has still won four major championships, but none since 2014.
