Coach Rick Pitino’s St. John’s second-team roster is complete, with the addition of a promising big man from Portugal who Pitino and his staff spent more than a year acquiring.
Big man Reuben Pry committed to St. John’s University on Tuesday night, filling a major need up front for St. John’s.
Standing at 6 feet 10 inches tall, his play has earned him attention as a player with the potential to flourish in the NBA in the future.
Pray, 19, was close to committing to St John’s University last summer but opted to remain overseas.
He’s a capable forward who can play both the 4 and 5 and will compete for playing time up front with returning forwards Zubby Ejiofor and USC transfer Vincent Iwuchukwu.
Pleigh averaged 11.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in 16 games for CB Pratt last season and also played limited time with Spanish club Joventut Badalona.
Pray’s addition caps a strong offseason for Pitino and the team, led by the additions of highly touted transfers Kadary Richmond (Seton Hall University) and Davon Smith (University of Utah).
St. John’s held its first practice of the summer on Tuesday.
