The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched the private residence of “progressive” Oakland Mayor Shen Tao on Thursday morning, just days after a recall petition against Tao was approved for the November 2024 ballot.
Federal agents searched his home. Mayor of Oakland Shen Tao Investigators began searches of several homes early on Thursday, including two linked to a recycling company owned by a politically influential family.
Property records show Ms. Thao lives at 80 Maiden Lane, a beige, four-bedroom home with batten siding. She did not immediately return a call Thursday morning, and her spokesman, Frances Zamora, referred inquiries to the FBI.
