A Utah man allegedly murdered his parents in cold blood earlier this week. Reportedly The suspect confessed to the crime but also allegedly claimed he would “do it again” if he could.
Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 28-year-old man, whose real name is Collin Troy Bailey but who legally changed his gender to female last year and changed his name to Mia Bailey, is suspected of breaking into his family’s home near St. George, Utah, and attempting to kill his family.
“We want to make sure she knows we’re going to treat her right and fairly.”
according to ReportsHis parents, Joseph Bailey, 70, and Gail Bailey, 69, may have taken issue with their son’s gender confusion, and neighbor Richard Zyszkiewicz told reporters that the family had a volatile relationship and that the boy had gotten “bad vibes” from his parents.
Once inside the home, Mia Bailey allegedly opened fire on her parents and then tried to shoot her brother, who had locked himself in a bedroom but managed to escape to a neighbour’s house and call police.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the Baileys covered in blood and shell casings scattered across the floor. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Joseph Bailey had been shot twice, and his wife four times.
After an extensive investigation, Mia Bailey eventually surrendered to police, and the caliber of the gun he possessed appears to have matched the caliber of shell casings found in his home.
Once in police custody, Mia Bailey was remarkably forthright and, according to the affidavit, showed no “remorse” for killing his parents. “I would do it again. I hate my parents,” he allegedly said. The affidavit also states that he “openly” expressed “hatred” for his brother as well.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Bailey also appeared to have issues with other family members, who reportedly told police they were “afraid” of him. “All of these families sought alternative accommodations to ensure their safety,” the affidavit states.
Mia Bailey He has been charged with three counts of murder, seven weapons charges and one robbery charge. It is unclear whether he is currently being held in a women’s or men’s detention center.
At least one local cop seemed to be trying to demonstrate just how tolerant law enforcement is willing to be about Bailey’s gender identity: “This isn’t the end for her, is it?” said Lt. Corey Klotz, a public information officer for the Washington Police Department, who, as The Blaze News previously pointed out, has repeatedly used female pronouns to describe the suspect.
“We want to make sure she knows that we’re going to treat her right and fairly and that our justice system is going to be followed and that she gets the respect that she needs.”
Police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting, and it is unclear when Bailey is next scheduled to appear in court.
