Shocking security camera footage captures the moment two porch pirates raced to a Pennsylvania man’s front door and began fighting over a package just seconds after a FedEx driver delivered it.
Kevin Lara of Reading I posted a video On Tuesday, he posted on Facebook a video of thieves hustling on his porch trying to take his “very expensive” AT&T cell phone.
In the video, a FedEx driver can be seen walking up Lara’s driveway, discreetly placing the package on Lara’s front porch, then taking a photo of the delivery complete.
In the video, a white car can be seen suddenly stopping in the background.
While the driver was still walking back to his van in the driveway, two men, one wearing a black hoodie and the other wearing white shorts, suddenly and simultaneously jumped out of a car parked in front of the house and sprinted to grab their belongings.
“Hey!” one yells to the other as they struggle over the box, as if it had been fumbled.
The man in the hooded jacket appears to grab the bag first, pull out a knife and begin swinging it at the other man, who then steps back.
While the victorious thief takes his spoils back to his car, the man in the white shorts is seen picking up a flower pot and yelling at the thief in the front yard, before the man in the shorts gets back in his car and the two drive off, the video shows.
“The poor FedEx driver looks scared. I’m not worried about my phone but what if this guy hurts one of my family members….has the world really come to this?” Lara wrote in the post.
The Post has reached out to the Reading Police Department for additional information.
The callous theft is reminiscent of a similar incident involving FedEx earlier this month, when masked thieves in Columbus, Ohio, stole a package and fled just seconds after the hapless driver left it on a customer’s doorstep.
