Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has filed paperwork in Pennsylvania to appear on the ballot in November’s presidential election.

The Pennsylvania State Board of Elections confirmed that Kennedy submitted his materials on Thursday, well ahead of the Aug. 1 deadline.

The Keystone State is a key battleground in the 2024 presidential election, and Kennedy’s entry could complicate the race between President Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Polls show Kennedy maintains support of about 10 percent in national polls, and has at times reached as high as 15 percent.

Strategists have discussed whether Kennedy’s unexpected success among Americans disillusioned with the Democratic and Republican parties could siphon votes away from Trump and Biden.

Kennedy’s independent run could tip the balance in states where Trump and Biden are in close races.

Kennedy failed to meet the requirements to appear in CNN’s first 2024 presidential debate.

Independent Candidate CNN reported that three national polls showed him with just the 15% approval rating he needed.

The outlet also reported that Kennedy did not qualify to vote in enough states to reach the 270 electoral vote threshold.

Kennedy claims he meets the requirements to appear on the ballot in 22 states, but not all of those states have publicly backed that up.

“President Biden and President Trump do not want me on the debate stage, and CNN has illegally agreed to their demands,” Kennedy said in a statement Thursday. “President Biden and President Trump’s removal of me from the debate is undemocratic, un-American and cowardly.”
