Despite drafting perhaps the most popular female basketball player of all time in the WNBA Draft, the Indiana Fever were never a legitimate championship contender.
Heck, even Caitlin Clark, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, couldn’t get the Fever that far. There’s a reason they owned the No. 1 pick.
But after the Fever won three straight games earlier this week, with Clark posting a stellar 18 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, the tide turned for some teams.

But Clark wants everyone to stay calm.
“I think everybody in our world likes instant gratification. Nobody came here and said from day one in the locker room we’re going to be WNBA champions. That’s never been our goal. Our goal is to get back to the playoffs and we’re fighting for that every night,” Clark said earlier this week.
“This is the first time since 2015 that we’ve won four home games in a row. You have to look at things objectively, and that applies to life too. You have to have an objective view of life and a sense of perspective about what this team can achieve.”

Friday’s win over the Atlanta Dream extended Indiana’s winning streak to four and improved them to 7-10 on the season, but Clark seemed to hint that the tough start was something he and his teammates were mostly expecting.
“This is our toughest schedule since the start of the season, we’ve barely had any practice and we’re going to be playing some of the most inexperienced teams in the WNBA,” Clark said.
But now, they’re “hitting it off and starting to build chemistry.”
“It’s one day at a time, but like I said, everybody wants instant gratification and obviously we wanted that too, but I think we all just kept a good mindset that we’ve got to get better step by step and we’re going to continue to do that even though we’ve won three straight here at home.”

The Fever face off against the Chicago Sky on Sunday, just a week after Angel Reese received a flagrant foul against Clark in a recent matchup.
