Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said on MSNBC’s “The Saturday Show” this week that if former President Donald Trump wins in November, there will be violence and “more murder.”
Host Jonathan Capehart asked, “How concerned are you about your safety if Donald Trump is re-elected?”
“I’m very concerned not only for my safety but the safety of my constituents. I’m concerned for the safety of many people in this country, particularly people of color. Donald Trump has said that if he doesn’t win, the election will be rigged, there will be blood in the streets because it will be rigged, he’s threatening civil war, he’s threatening violence. All of these things are inspiring to many of the racists who are listening to him at home and they’re buying into his threats even before the election has even taken place. This means thousands, maybe millions, of people are threatened and in danger because of Donald Trump and his desire to get revenge on everything and everyone,” Waters said.
She added: “After listening to Donald Trump so many times and seeing the attacks and riots that have taken place on the House of Representatives, on the Capitol, on the Capitol grounds and on the Capitol grounds, I believe there is a possibility that more such murders will occur in the future. I believe that Donald Trump, if he is not elected president of the United States, will have to be held accountable for his comments about the bloodshed and violence in the streets.”
