Utah Republican Senate candidate Trent Staggs Breitbart News Saturday His primary opponent, Rep. John Curtis (R-Utah), is a former chairman of the Utah Democratic Party and is “funded by billionaire climate activists.”
Mr. Staggs Breitbart News Saturday Breitbart News reported that climate activists, including Clearpath Foundation founder Jay Faison, have donated $2 million to a super PAC supporting Curtis in the race to replace retiring Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).

“John Curtis is the very definition of a RINO. Not only was he a former Democrat, he was the Chairman of the Utah Democratic Party, switching parties only to run for Jason Chaffetz’s seat when he resigned from Congress in 2017,” explained Staggs, the mayor of Riverton, Utah. “He’s being funded by billionaire climate activists who’ve put $10 million into his political action committee, and they’ve been attacking me relentlessly over the last week,” Staggs added.
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Staggs’ candidacy for the U.S. Senate, describing the conservative Senate candidate as “100% MAGA.”

Trump also recently released a video urging Utahns to support Staggs in the primary.

Staggs said Trump’s support was a “winning formula” for the U.S. Senate election.
He cited Curtis’ argument that building a border wall involves “repressed racism,” adding that too many Republicans are like Curtis.
“Border, budget and regulatory reform are my top priorities, and I look forward to working with Senator Lee on this REINS Act to rein in the federal government and all of its out-of-control bureaucracy,” Staggs said.
“I have the support of ordinary Americans, Utahns and oil and gas workers’ organizations who want energy advantage,” he added.
