Olympics 2024: Nelly Korda looks to seize 2nd gold medal, set to lead amazing USA golf team

There are officially 60 participants in the women’s Olympic golf competition, according to the latest edition of the Rolex Rankings.

They are scheduled to play Aug. 7-10 at Le Golf National in Paris, site of the 2018 Ryder Cup.

Two players from each country may qualify, provided they are not ranked in the top 15 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). A maximum of four players from each country may qualify.

Each tournament has: Olympic Golf Rankings Like the OWGR, it is determined based on the quality of players on the field.

This determines the points awarded in the event, which are then allocated to players based on their finishing position – performing better in stronger events will earn you more points.

Team USA has three of the top 10 players on its team: No. 1 Nelly Korda, No. 2 Lilia Vu and No. 9 Rose Chan. Korda has six wins this season, including five consecutive wins. However, Korda has missed the cut in her last three starts.

She won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, beating silver medalist Mone Inami and bronze medalist Lydia Ko by one stroke. Can she claim a second gold medal in Paris and reach the podium?

South Korea will have three Olympians if Amy Yang wins the KPMG Ladies PGA Championship on Sunday, joining Ko Jin Young and Kim Hyo Ju in Paris.

Yang’s inclusion on South Korea’s Olympic team meant that Morocco’s Ines Lakralev, ranked 321st in the world, dropped out of the competition.

Charlie Hull and Georgia Hall will compete for Great Britain, while Ko will be aiming to return to the podium for New Zealand. Australian golfer Hannah Green will also be making her Olympic return after sharing fifth place in Tokyo.

The last time Nelly Korda missed the cut was at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
