‘Sandlot’ star walks off with just a fine after pleading guilty to assault, other charges

The actor, who once played the character Scotty Smalls, recently got into some major trouble after he threw a weight at a car and then showed up at the owner’s house with a knife.

“I’ll come back for you. [I’m] Sorry, brother. I’ll give it back.

June 2 was apparently an off day for Tom Guiry, the 43-year-old actor best known for playing awkward aspiring baseball player Scotty Smalls in the 1993 classic film “The Sandlot.” That day, Guiry reportedly terrorized a resident across the street from his Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, home for about two hours, resulting in three 911 calls and several disturbing surveillance camera images.

First, a shirtless Gilley apparently ran across the street and hurled a 35-pound dumbbell at the windshield of a neighbor’s white Jeep Wrangler, causing severe damage. “It literally shattered the window,” one owner said. Reportedly cried Gilly, apologizing.

“That sucks, I’ll get revenge. Sorry, I’ll get revenge,” Gilly replied.

“I did it. I’m sorry. I’ll come back for you. [I’m] “I’m sorry brother. I’ll pay you back,” he added, according to one media outlet. Police report.

Doorbell camera footage showed Gilley then returned to the neighbor’s house, this time brandishing the knife. A woman inside the home claimed Gilley then came back inside, still holding the knife. The woman’s husband then confronted Gilley in the couple’s garage.

When officers arrived on scene, Guley was standing in the middle of the road asking about his wife’s safety. Guley was arrested and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on charges of third-degree assault and criminal damage to personal property.

Gilley posted $1,000 bail the next day and was released from custody, and was indicted last week on a third count of indecent exposure.

On Monday morning, he pleaded guilty to all charges and was ordered to pay a little over $750 in fines, with one day credited for time served in jail.

Gilley, who was arrested over a decade ago for allegedly headbutting a police officer at a New Jersey airport, has also appeared in U-571, Mystic River and Black Hawk Down.
