MSNBC host shrugs off illegal immigrant killing young girl: ‘That’s one out of 11 million’

An MSNBC host on Saturday took a negative stance when a conservative guest brought up the murder of a young girl by an illegal immigrant, seemingly suggesting it was an isolated incident meant to smear all immigrants.

Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, got into a tense discussion with several MSNBC personalities about deporting illegal immigrants. “So what are these people doing? What are they doing now?” MSNBC host and former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele asked. “What about the 11 million, 20 million people, the people you want to deport?”

“Many of them commit crimes like the murder of a 12-year-old girl in Houston,” Roberts said, apparently referring to the murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nangaray that made national news.

MSNBC host and former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele argued that the notorious national murders were isolated cases and questioned the idea of deporting millions of illegal immigrants.

“So this is one out of 11 million,” Steele said.

“I could give you a bunch of examples for the rest of this segment,” Roberts said.

MSNBC host Symone Sanders Townsend interrupted to cite statistics that claim “illegal immigrants” are less likely to be convicted of crimes.

“Tell that to the survivors of these people,” Roberts said, then asked, “What would you say to the parents of the young girls who were murdered?”

Steele then asked what the difference is between “illegal” immigrants who commit these crimes and “anyone else” who commits the same crimes, eventually being reprimanded by Sanders-Townsend for using the word “illegal.” “You’re saying that just because there are examples of bad individual behavior, that it’s a reflection of all individuals in that community, which is not true,” she added.

Sanders-Townsend later claimed that she and fellow MSNBC host Alicia Menendez had told Roberts, “You are trying to weaponize a horrific murder case to slander 11 million people.”

“That’s a laughable claim,” Roberts responded. “What Joe Biden is doing is weaponizing the entire government against every American.”

MSNBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
